TODCon 2007 has Come and Gone

Once again, TODCon was a great success! A lot of new attendees and speakers were at the event in early June, held at the Excalibur Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

Jim's two presentations on Fireworks were both well attended and there was a lot of positive feedback about the conference in general, not to mention Jim's fashion choices!

NMS Welcomes Beesknees

Thumbnail examle of the newly designed Beesknees web siteBased on a referral from an associate, we approached Beesknees Children's Consignment Store about a site redesign.

Their existing site had been built some years ago by a family member, and the owners were looking to update the site with a new look, and also to begin an on-going business relationship with a profession web design company.

Beesknees is a small family run business with tight budgets, but Newmedia Services was able to accommodate both their bottom line and their yearning for a fresh, contemporary look to the site.

Since it was launch over a month ago, the site has received a great deal of positive feedback and glowing comments

Jim Babbage selected as Adobe Community Expert

For quite some time, Jim has acted as a Team Macromedia Volunteer, actively participating in the Macromedia user forums by helping users of products such as Fireworks and Dreamweaver.

With the aquisition of Macromedia by Adobe Systems, some things were bound to change, and one of those is the designation for Macromedia Volunteers.

Adobe Community Experts logoThe new designation is Adobe Community Expert (ACE). The goals of Adobe and this group of volunteers remain the same: to be helpful and supportive of the users of Adobe products. Jim's areas of specialty are Fireworks, Photoshop and Dreamweaver.

A New Year and New Projects

Newmedia Services has recently started work on the Syndicate Canada web site. A conference dedicated to exploring the challenges and models for content syndication. The site is live and if you're interested in RSS, it would be worth checking out.

NMS hired to build & maintain two new conference web sites

Over the past few months, Newmedia Services has been working on two new projects: LinuxWorld/NetworkWorld Canada conference and Expo web site, Linux On Tour web site. Working in conjunction with Line of Sight Design (graphic designers for the conference print work) and Paragon Visuals (Coldfusion back end developer), both sites feature similar yet updated looks from previous years, as well as a full-fledged back-end for the conference administrators, Exhibitors and - new this year - conference faculty.

Both sites are designed and laid out using CSS-P, which can improve accessibility, decrease site bandwidth and enable easier site maintenance.

Jim Babbage featured speaker at DesignFest '05

In October of this year, Toronto played host to the first - and we trust not the last - DesignFest, a new media festival. Featuring speakers from across North America, this one-day event was well attended and drew high praise from visitors. Jim Babbage's seminar focused on the latest version of Fireworks (Version 8), demonstrating some of the new features in FW 8, but primarily delving deeply into creative masking techniques.

TODCON a worthwhile investment

Jim Babbage has returned from his speaking engagement at TODCON Vegas. Aside talking about the creative power of Macromedia Fireworks, it was also a chance to catch up with old friends and network with potential clients and suppliers. In fact, Jim returned with a project or two under his arm.
